Ricobendazole is a broad-spectrum benzimidazole anthelmintic used to protect livestock from internal parasites.

Ricobendazole (albendazole sulfoxide) is a modern veterinary dewormer developed to control a wide range of gastrointestinal and pulmonary worms in cattle, sheep, goats and other livestock. As the active sulfoxide metabolite of albendazole, it offers strong efficacy at relatively low doses, helping producers manage mixed infections of nematodes, certain cestodes and liver flukes with confidence.

At the cellular level, Ricobendazole works by inhibiting tubulin polymerization in parasite cells, disrupting microtubule formation and glucose uptake. This interference with energy metabolism leads to the gradual starvation and death of susceptible worms, including both adult and immature stages as well as eggs, supporting effective pasture and herd hygiene.

Because of its broad spectrum and reliable performance, Ricobendazole is widely incorporated into strategic deworming programs, either as injectable formulations or oral drenches and suspensions. Consistent use under veterinary guidance helps improve growth rates, feed conversion and overall health, supporting more efficient and sustainable livestock production while safeguarding animal welfare.
